Welcome to my Cooking Blog

I love experimenting..with food..personal looks...home decoration n all..and fortunately they work most of the time..I used to make only cakes in microwave when I was small...by reading recipes in magazines (net was not available at that time)..rest of cooking was always my mom's domain..but as the pressure of studies grew..I left cooking completely for some 6-8 years.I still remember..my roomie in Belleville,Canada taught me how to make simple Daal :).I had forgotton all...along with the confidence...
But after wedding..now I have my own kitchen...a very demanding husband when it comes to variety of food and keeping taste buds happy..a lovable brother-in-law who loves good food though doesn't demand much (probably shy!! )and being a responsible lady of the house..I am very cautious about nutrient value of food and hygiene along with calorie content (I am quite plumpy already :) ).
So,this blog is just a record of my experiments with the recipes I read on other food blogs or the standard recipes learnt from mom n friends...
As these all are experiments,so definite quantity of ingredients is not specified. Most are approximations as per my taste :).

Oatmeal Dosa

Well..as I was anticipating for long...finally my hubby dear got bored with my breakfast menu...so it was time to find something healthy for breakfast now..In my menu...Oatmeal is best for health...so wanted an experiment with this only..so searched on net..got a recipe for oatmeal dosa..and then added my flavours to it and this came out..n again..i did it..my hubby dear liked it a lot ( he actually doesn't like healthy food much ;)

Ingredients:
1.Oatmeal - approx as much u want
2.2-3 spoons of rice
3.Ginger-grated - as per your taste
4.Garlic- sliced -as per your taste
I don't like paste of ginger n garlic for paranthas ..the flavor with grated or sliced one is always better
5.Lots of coriander+little of methi leaves + pudina leaves or pudina powder (as per flavour)
6.Chopped onions
7.Raw Mango powder,  few seeds of ajwain (good for digestion),garam masala and salt
8. Green chilli - as per flavour

Procedure:
1.Soak rice n oatmeal in water for some 20-25 minutes..add water as per the density required..I approximated with the density i use for dosa batter
2.After it is soaked well, make the batter using mixer.
3.Add the leaves, onions, masalas and all the ingredients above
4.Cook it on flat tawa..as we do for dosa..
5.I served it with mango pickle..n it was as yummy as parantha..but quite filling n nutritious..and actually much less effort than a parantha.

It won't be as crispy as Plain Dosa..but somewhat like onion dosa...but it won't get black/brown as dosa while cooking..Have a look..
